Tasya Van Ree is a photographer based in Los Angeles. Almost all of her photos are in black and white. Van Ree seeks to capture intimacy, romanticism, and a certain special darkness in her photographs. Being in Los Angeles, she also occasionally takes pictures of celebrities. One of her primary models is actress and girlfriend Amber Heard. Van Ree is also known for self-portraits.
I really like the portraits that Tasya takes. There’s something unique about them, whether it’s the outfit someone has on or the angle at which the camera was shot. And even though a lot of nudity is featured in her pictures, it manages to be more classy than pornographic. I feel like her pictures capture emotions and mystery really well. You’re interested in the person being photographed.
