Berenice Abbott is well-known in the photography world for her images of New York City’s architectural design. Through various projects, she began photographing the city in 1929 and continued to do so through 1956. Her photos are strictly black-and-white and are saturated with dynamic angles and strong contrasts. She produced some of her most famous work from 1935 to 1939.
Abbott’s work definitely grabbed my attention due to my appreciation of black-and-white photography. In my opinion, all of her New York photos are unique and interesting. She spent much of her career photographing in and around one city, but the images within her own work remain distinctive. Good eye Abbott, good eye.
