A new photography drone is set to release in the first quarter of 2016, but this isn’t like any other drone out in the market now. The Lily Camera Drone is capable of being thrown out of it’s user’s hands and then tracking the user’s movement while taking hi-definition videos and photos. There is no controller necessary to operate the drone, which gives the user the ability do things such as snowboarding and kayaking without their hands on the camera. The drone follows them using a tracking device that can either be worn on the wrist in a waterproof bracelet or simply in the pocket.
The camera can shoot 1080p HD video at 60 frames-per-second or 720p video at 120 frames-per-second for slow-motion action, as well as 12-megapixel still photographs. It can fly for up to 20 minutes at a time at an average speed of 15 mph. The drone is also completely waterproof.
The Lily Drone is bound to capture some amazing footage and great pictures. I believe it will be well used in the future at plenty of sporting events such as the X- Games and Tour de France. This is a great innovation in camera drone that other companies are bound to imitate.
