Lighting painting is a technique that I find interesting. The use of light at night is not something that’s easy but if you get it just right the pictures are beautiful. I have found in my attempts at light painting that the most important piece of equipment needed (besides the camera) is a tripod. Also, trial and error on your settings is a definite.

Finally, here are some tips to taking light painting shots.

  1. get the right gear
  2. find a good subject, get permission if need be
  3. set up your camera using the starting settings
  4. take your base exposure test shot
  5. add your flashlight and light painting
