Lighting painting is a technique that I find interesting. The use of light at night is not something that’s easy but if you get it just right the pictures are beautiful. I have found in my attempts at light painting that the most important piece of equipment needed (besides the camera) is a tripod. Also, trial and error on your settings is a definite.
Finally, here are some tips to taking light painting shots.
- get the right gear
- find a good subject, get permission if need be
- set up your camera using the starting settings
- take your base exposure test shot
- add your flashlight and light painting
