“Beautiful Pollution” by Wayne Sisson
Shutter Speed: 1/200 sec.
I noticed this little pond during a portrait shoot for an assignment, and liked how the oil run-off was being reflected by the sunlight as well as the interplay between the light and tree shadows. So, I snapped a few shots of it, then uploaded my favorite in to Photoshop, where I did the typical “Auto-Contrast”/”Auto-Color” routine, but I didn’t like how muted the colors still seemed afterward. To correct this, I went into Image>Adjustments>Color Balance, and tweaked the Reds a bit higher, which caused the psychedelic colors to really pop out. This was an extremely easy and satisfying image to edit, unlike most of the others I find myself spending hours working on.
