J. Grant Brittain is one of the best known skateboarding photographers. He shot around the time when vert skating was more popular than street skateboarding, so most of his photos consisted of a young Tony Hawk, Christian Hosoi and Steve Caballero. He was the founding Photo Editor and Senior Photographer for Transworld SKATEboarding magazine, but has since started The Skateboard Mag where he is Production Manager, Director of Photographer, and Co-owner. I really like his photos because they’re different than most skateboarding ones. His photos aren’t always in your face skating with an extreme fisheye, they’re more subtle and I feel like he shoots from an artistic perspective while still documenting great skateboarding.
